A Leicester security company that puts its method in writing
Black Dragon Security is a private security company based in Leicester, providing on-site security services and security systems for businesses and property owners.
How we work, in short
Good security is mostly careful, unglamorous work: checking the same gate every night, writing down what happened, and telling a client something they may not want to hear. So we plan before we deploy, we put things in writing, and we say only what we can stand behind.
Every job starts with a survey, then a written assessment and proposal, then site instructions you have agreed, then reviews. A named person is your contact throughout, and you receive a report after each shift or visit. The detail is on How we work.

How private security is regulated
Private security in the UK is regulated by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) under the Private Security Industry Act 2001. The SIA licenses individuals who carry out certain security work under contract. It does not license companies.
Where a task needs a licence, we use only people who hold the right one, and we check it on the SIA's public register before they start. You can check any individual's licence there yourself.
Questions worth asking any security supplier
These follow the SIA's guidance for people buying event security, and they apply to most jobs. Ask them of anyone you are considering, including us.
- Who is the company? Look it up on Companies House, and check who runs it.
- Will the people on my site hold the right SIA licence for the work? Ask for licence details, then check them on the public register.
- How are staff screened? BS 7858 is the British Standard for screening people who work in secure environments. Ask how a supplier's screening compares with it.
- What insurance do you hold? Ask to see the documents, and check they cover the work.
- Will you use subcontractors? If so, ask who they are and who checks their licences and screening.
- What will I receive in writing? Ask for a blank site instruction and incident report form.
- Do the rates look sustainable? A very low price can mean staff are not being paid properly.
